Running Writing
In the (Australian) summer of 2026 I started writing a novel, and loved that much of it could be broken up into individual short stories. Enjoying this format, I decided to keep writing short stories as well, and to put together a zine featuring a collection of them: Running Writing Volume #1 was launched at Festival of the Photocopier in Naarm/Melbourne on Saturday February 7. It is available for purchase online after that via psychichysteria.com.
I decided to start the Running Writing Substack to allow even more freedom in publishing these stories. Some that I share here will be complete, some will be ideas that may become more substantial parts of a publication in the future, some will be unedited, and other posts might be thoughts I wanted to share.
I named this project Running Writing, as the stories are usually stream of consciousness, written on the run - often on the notes app on my phone, on dog walks, while waiting for someone - and occasionally the ideas have come to me while I’m on a run or bike ride.
Please subscribe for updates on new posts—there is a free tier, and extra bits for paid. I will be selective with which posts I send emails for, so I won’t spam you. I will be creating audio and video versions of many of the stories
Join the chat and please comment, I’d love to hear from you.
